In March 2022 I made this image of a tawny owl at twilight at an ISO of 16000 with the OM-1 camera and there’s barely has any noise present! The High Res mode on the OM-1 can be used handheld to make a 50MP image. It does this by taking 12 images and combining them, […]
I’ve had the M.Zuiko 60mm f/2.8 macro lens since last year, but it wasn’t before I recently invested in a flash (Olympus FL-900R) and a diffuser (Cygnustech) that I felt like I started to get some macro images that I was happy with. In this post I’ll show the images that I got on a […]

I’d heard a lot about how close you can get to puffins on Lunga, one of the Treshinsh islands west of Mull. So during on a camper van trip to the Isle of Mull early summer 2023, I was beyond excited to finally take a trip to this mythical island.
We can spend so much money the newest and fanciest gear these days, but do we need it? Can we still create great images with budget gear? One of my absolute favorite features of the OM System is Pro Capture, the ability to “go back in time” to shoot the action. I will always look for opportunities to use this feature as it can create some really impactful images.
For me, spring is the absolute highlight of using pro capture. This is when I’ll be going out in my local forests looking for breeding birds so that I can photograph the parent birds as they fly to and from the nest feeding their young.
