Snow at the Forest Hide

When we finally got a snow day in Perthshire I spent all day out filming and photographing my local wildlife. I really wanted to put together a Christmas Special video for YouTube and I’m happy to say that the snow, the wildlife and the photos all came together in the end.

Merry Christmas everyone!

As I was photographing and filming a flock of redwings in a holly tree this roe deer came really close to me. I was standing completely still and the deer must have not known what to make of me, circling me and approaching several times. An incredible encounter I’ won’t soon forget.

When I use a high ISO I always run my photos through Topaz Photo AI – the new program includes my favourite Topaz products: DeNoise, Sharpen and GigaPixel AI all in one. Get a 15% Discount by using the code: GETPHOTOAI

The Forest Hide was my destination when the snow came, it’s a place in my local forest where I feed for red squirrels and woodland birds, but I can often get other surprise visitors pop by like fallow and roe deer. You can book a session with me in the forest hide here. I use the Tragopan Monal V2 hide, it’s actually been in the forest for 2 years now and still in great condition!

Espen – thanks for the wonderful video, and the set of pictures with the settings! What a great collection of winter birds you have there. Ours in New England tend to be a bit less colorful, except when I find a Cardinal, Robin, or Bluebird around, and if I’m lucky, some Longspurs and Snow Buntings.

Thanks a lot Peter! Funny, I’m always jealous of the amazing colourful warblers you get in spring time over there šŸ™‚
