In March 2022 I made this image of a tawny owl at twilight at an ISO of 16000 with the OM-1 camera and there’s barely has any noise present! The High Res mode on the OM-1 can be used handheld to make a 50MP image. It does this by taking 12 images and combining them, […]
I’ve had the M.Zuiko 60mm f/2.8 macro lens since last year, but it wasn’t before I recently invested in a flash (Olympus FL-900R) and a diffuser (Cygnustech) that I felt like I started to get some macro images that I was happy with. In this post I’ll show the images that I got on a […]
I suspect wildlife photographers and especially those of you who do a lot of bird photography will be excited about this new lens. 150-600mm equivalent to 300-1200mm in full frame!

I’d heard a lot about how close you can get to puffins on Lunga, one of the Treshinsh islands west of Mull. So during on a camper van trip to the Isle of Mull early summer 2023, I was beyond excited to finally take a trip to this mythical island.
In May 2023, I took a holiday with Alex and Brew dog to the Isle of Mull. Obviously I couldn’t leave my camera behind and every opportunity I got I snuck away for a little bit of photography. This means my photography was limited to what was near our camper van, but on the spectacular beaches that we stayed at there was always something to photograph!
We can spend so much money the newest and fanciest gear these days, but do we need it? Can we still create great images with budget gear? I’m a big believer that the photography gear we use is a tool and most of the great images we produce comes more from using our knowledge of composition, light and animal behaviour.
